Sheer Lightweight Viscose Embossed Jacquard Fabric
Sheer Lightweight Viscose Embossed Jacquard Fabric is an ultra-light woven fabric where raised motifs such as Flower, Big Leaf, Leaf and Small Leaf sit against a translucent base. At 102 GSM and 150 cm wide, it is fluid enough for kaftan overlays, open layers and lined dress panels, while the jacquard construction keeps the motif visible instead of flat.
Use it over a lining or underlayer to show the full contrast between the sheer base and raised texture. Available in Formal Black, Dark Blue and Dark Burgundy across four woven motifs. Made in Türkiye from 80% viscose and 20% polyester.
Order a swatch first to check sheerness, colour, lining choice and drape before committing to production yardage.

What buyers ask before ordering
How sheer is this lightweight embossed jacquard?
The product is intentionally specified as sheer, so it is best treated as a layering or overlay fabric rather than an opaque standalone textile. The exact transparency can vary by colour, lighting and how many layers are used.
What garments suit a 102 GSM sheer jacquard?
Its lightweight 102 GSM body and soft drape suit overlays, layered dresses, blouses, sleeves, kaftan panels, scarves and other designs where transparency and raised texture are part of the look.
Is the embossed motif printed onto the surface?
The product is specified as an embossed jacquard, so the main surface interest comes from the textured woven construction rather than a flat printed pattern alone.
Can I use it for an abaya?
Yes as an overlay, sleeve, panel or layered design element. Because the fabric is sheer, a full abaya generally needs an underlayer or lining where coverage is required.
Does the fabric stretch?
No. It is a non-stretch woven fabric, so fitted areas need suitable ease, shaping and closures rather than relying on stretch.
How does the 150 cm width help with layering projects?
A 150 cm width gives useful cutting room for wide overlays, sleeves, skirts and kaftan or abaya panels. Actual yield depends on garment size, motif direction and whether layers must be matched.
Will the embossed texture stay exactly the same forever?
No textile surface should be treated as permanently unchanged under every condition. Repeated abrasion, laundering and pressing can affect lightweight raised textures, so follow the stored care guidance and test the intended method on a swatch.
How will the sheer texture look in photos?
Transparency and raised texture change with background colour, light direction and camera exposure. Test a swatch over the actual lining or garment colour you plan to use, especially for campaign or ecommerce photography.
Should I match the motif across visible seams?
If the embossed repeat is prominent, plan placement before cutting so front, back, sleeve or skirt panels look intentional. Full matching may not always be necessary, but checking the repeat avoids awkward breaks at key seams.
What lining should I use?
Choose the lining according to the desired colour effect, opacity, drape and comfort. A tonal lining gives a more unified appearance, while contrast can make the sheer texture more visible; test combinations physically before production.
Is this suitable for sharply structured tailoring?
It is better suited to soft layered shapes than firm tailoring. If a structured section is required, test support or interfacing on a swatch, or use the jacquard as an overlay over a more stable base.
What should I test before sewing?
Test needle size, seam finish, pressing, handling and the intended lining combination on a swatch. Lightweight sheer wovens can show needle marks and seam bulk more readily than opaque midweight fabrics.
Will repeat orders match exactly?
Small colour and finishing differences can occur between production batches. If multiple garments or layers must match closely, order the expected quantity together or compare a current swatch before reordering.
Is it suitable for boutique or wholesale layering collections?
Yes. The shared lightweight specification can support coordinated overlays, sleeves and layered garments across colourways. Approve transparency, colour and lining combinations with swatches before production.
When should I choose another fabric instead?
Choose an opaque textile when one-layer coverage is required, a stretch fabric for bodycon designs, or a heavier structured fabric when the garment needs firm shape rather than lightweight transparent texture.

Before cutting or sewing this sheer lightweight viscose embossed jacquard, test a swatch for washing, steaming, pressing, opacity and shrinkage. The fabric is light and sheer, so lining choice and gentle handling are especially important.
- Test first Test a small piece before washing, steaming, pressing or cutting the full fabric.
- Opacity Check the fabric over the intended lining or underlayer before production.
- Texture Use light pressure when pressing to avoid flattening the embossed jacquard texture.
- Wash Use cold gentle handling or dry clean if you want the safest route for the finished garment.
- Dry Do not tumble dry. Air dry gently in shade and avoid strong wringing.
- Cutting Let the fabric relax flat before cutting and use careful layout because sheer fabrics can shift.
General care guidance only. Results may vary by colour, sheerness, lining, steam, water quality and garment construction.
Compare to Chiffon
Both can be used for sheer layering, but this product adds a raised embossed-jacquard surface rather than a uniformly smooth sheer face.
This fabric is better when
- The textured woven motif gives visible surface dimension without requiring a separate print.
- It works well when the overlay itself should contribute pattern and texture.
Chiffon is better when
- Choose chiffon when a smoother, simpler sheer layer is preferred and raised woven texture is not needed.
Compare to Organza
Organza is commonly chosen for crisp transparent structure, while this fabric is specified with soft drape and lightweight embossed texture.
This fabric is better when
- Its soft drape suits flowing overlays, sleeves and layered silhouettes.
- The embossed jacquard gives a tactile pattern while remaining lightweight.
Organza is better when
- Choose organza when crisp volume, stiffness or sculptural transparency is central to the design.
Compare to Opaque jacquard
Opaque jacquard provides one-layer coverage, while this product intentionally uses transparency as part of the design.
This fabric is better when
- The sheer construction can create depth when layered over tonal or contrasting underfabrics.
- It is suited to overlays and translucent panels where an opaque jacquard would hide the underlayer.
Opaque jacquard is better when
- Choose opaque jacquard when coverage without lining or layering is required.
