Viscose Embossed Two-Tone Jacquard Fabric is an opaque 190 GSM woven fabric made from a rayon-viscose blend with a small polyester content for stability. The embossed jacquard surface gives the cloth visible raised texture and two-tone depth, making it more dimensional than a plain viscose fabric while remaining soft enough for garment sewing.

At 145 cm wide, this non-stretch fabric works for dresses, blouses, skirts, soft jackets, overlays and boutique occasionwear where texture should come from the weave rather than a printed design. The current design groups include raised leaf and tonal embossed directions across black and neutral colourways.

Order a swatch first if colour matching, opacity, lining or production consistency matters. Test pressing, steaming and seam handling on a small piece before cutting the final garment.

Quick answers

What buyers ask before ordering

Is this embossed two-tone jacquard suitable for an abaya?

Yes. Its 190 GSM midweight body, opaque coverage, fluid drape and raised texture suit abayas, dresses and modestwear when you want more surface dimension than a plain fabric.

What makes the two-tone effect different from a printed pattern?

The visual depth comes from the embossed jacquard construction and contrasting colour relationship rather than relying only on a flat print, giving the fabric both tactile and visual texture.

How raised is the embossed surface?

The product is specified with a raised embossed jacquard texture. Exact relief and light response vary by design and colour, so a swatch is the best reference before production.

Is the fabric opaque?

Yes. It is specified as opaque in normal wear, making it suitable for garments where direct coverage is important.

Does it stretch?

No. This is a non-stretch woven fabric, so fitted pieces need appropriate ease, shaping and closures rather than relying on elasticity.

What does 190 GSM mean for the garment?

190 GSM places it in a midweight garment range, giving enough body for dresses, abayas, blouses and skirts while retaining the stored fluid drape.

Which embossed designs are available?

The live design display names include Big Leaf, Small Flower, Big Flower and Leaf.

Which two-tone colours are represented?

Current live display names include Cherry Burgundy–Grey, Dark Brown–Grey, Dark Blue–Grey, Dark Green–Grey, Dark Burgundy–Grey and Formal Black–Grey.

How does the 145 cm width help with cutting?

A 145 cm width is practical for many dress, blouse, skirt and abaya layouts. Actual yield depends on garment size, motif placement and whether adjacent pieces need the embossed design aligned.

Should I match the raised motif at seams?

For prominent fronts, backs or sleeves, review the repeat and motif direction before cutting. Exact matching can improve visual continuity but may increase meterage.

How will the raised texture look in photos?

Embossed surfaces create changing highlights and shadows depending on angle and light direction. Test the selected colour under your ecommerce or event lighting to judge the true two-tone depth.

Can I use it for a soft jacket or structured layer?

Yes for softly shaped layers if the fluid drape suits the design. Test interfacing and pressing first, or choose a firmer textile when the garment depends on strong tailoring structure.

What should I test before sewing?

Test needle size, seam finish, pressing, motif placement and any interfacing on a swatch. Use light pressure during pressing so the raised texture is not unnecessarily flattened.

Is it suitable for boutique or wholesale production?

Yes. The shared 190 GSM, 145 cm base allows coordinated silhouettes across several embossed designs and two-tone colours. Sample the intended variants first to approve colour, texture and sewing response.

When should I choose another fabric instead?

Choose a plain viscose when you want a smooth unpatterned surface, a stretch textile for bodycon designs, or a heavy brocade when rigid formal structure is more important than fluid embossed texture.

Fabric care

Before cutting or sewing this viscose embossed two-tone jacquard, test a swatch for washing, steaming, pressing, colour handling and shrinkage. The two-tone surface and raised texture should be protected from harsh heat and pressure.

  • Test first Test a small piece before washing, steaming, pressing or cutting the full fabric.
  • Two-tone effect Check colour direction and raised leaf texture before cutting, especially for panels or matching pieces.
  • Wash Use cold gentle handling or dry clean if you want the safest route for the finished garment.
  • Dry Do not tumble dry. Air dry gently in shade and avoid strong wringing.
  • Iron Press from the reverse side on low heat with a pressing cloth and light pressure.
  • Cutting Let the fabric relax flat before cutting and allow extra margin for pattern placement.

General care guidance only. Results may vary by colour, two-tone finish, raised texture, steam, water quality and garment construction.

Fabric comparison
Compare to Plain viscose woven

Plain viscose provides a smoother unpatterned surface, while this fabric adds raised two-tone jacquard texture at 190 GSM.

This fabric is better when

  • The embossed motif creates tactile depth without requiring a separate print.
  • It works well when the fabric itself should provide decorative surface interest.

Plain viscose woven is better when

  • Choose plain viscose when a clean smooth base is preferred for minimal garments, embroidery or custom printing.
Best choice: Choose this jacquard for raised two-tone texture and plain viscose for a simpler smooth base.
Compare to Heavy brocade

Heavy brocade provides stronger structure and denser formal ornament, while this product is a fluid midweight garment jacquard.

This fabric is better when

  • Its 190 GSM body suits dresses, abayas, blouses and skirts that still need movement.
  • The raised texture adds dimension without positioning the fabric as a rigid heavy brocade.

Heavy brocade is better when

  • Choose heavy brocade when firm structure and dense ceremonial weaving are central to the design.
Best choice: Choose this fabric for wearable embossed texture and brocade for heavier formal structure.
Compare to Printed rayon

Printed rayon creates pattern primarily through surface colour, while this fabric combines woven jacquard construction with raised two-tone texture.

This fabric is better when

  • The tactile motif changes with light and fold direction as well as colour.
  • The woven surface can serve as the main design detail without printed artwork.

Printed rayon is better when

  • Choose printed rayon when detailed graphics, multicolour florals or image-led motifs are the main requirement.
Best choice: Choose this jacquard for tactile two-tone depth and printed rayon for colour- and image-led pattern.
