Silky Designed Foil Pattern Fabric - Antique Camouflage Foil
Antique Camouflage Foil Fabric combines a smooth, silky 100% polyamide woven base with an irregular matte metallic camouflage-style foil print. Made in South Korea, it is 100 GSM and 150 cm wide, with opaque coverage, fluid drape and no stretch. The broken metallic pattern creates softer, uneven light reflection rather than a continuous high-gloss shine, making it suitable for abayas, evening dresses, blouses, skirts and statement panels.
Because the foil is applied at the surface rather than woven into the fabric structure, abrasion, harsh laundering and high heat can gradually affect its appearance. Metallic tones can also shift noticeably with screen settings and lighting, so order a swatch in the intended colourway before committing to production yardage when exact colour or foil tone matters.

What buyers ask before ordering
What makes Antique Camouflage Foil different from a plain metallic fabric?
Its metallic surface is broken into an irregular camouflage-style pattern rather than one continuous reflective face. That gives the fabric softer areas of light and shadow across folds while the underlying polyamide base remains smooth and fluid.
Does the foil make the fabric stiff or scratchy?
The base is a lightweight silky woven, and the foil is a surface decoration rather than a heavy embellishment. A swatch is still the best way to judge the hand against your own skin and garment construction before ordering full yardage.
Can the foil crack, dull or wear over time?
Surface foil finishes can gradually change with repeated abrasion, harsh laundering or high heat. Gentle handling, low-temperature care and testing on a swatch help reduce avoidable wear, but no surface foil should be treated as permanently unchanged under every use condition.
Is this suitable for an abaya?
Yes. At 100 GSM with fluid drape and opaque coverage, it can work well for flowing abayas, open abayas and statement panels where a lightweight matte metallic effect is desired.
Can I use it for evening dresses, blouses and skirts?
Yes. Its lightweight non-stretch woven construction suits fluid evening dresses, blouses and skirts. Very structured tailoring may need support because the fabric itself is designed to move rather than hold a rigid shape.
Is it opaque enough for modestwear?
The product is specified as opaque in normal wear. Very light colourways can still respond differently under strong backlighting, so order a swatch when exact coverage is important.
Does the fabric stretch?
No. It is a non-stretch woven fabric, so fitted patterns should include suitable ease, shaping and closures rather than relying on fabric stretch.
What is the difference between Formal Black C#11 and C#13?
They use different metallic treatments over a dark base. C#11 is shown with a bronze-tone matte foil, while C#13 uses a warmer gold-tone matte foil. Compare swatches if the exact metallic balance is important for your project.
Why do the 100 GSM weight and 150 cm width matter?
The 100 GSM weight keeps the fabric lightweight and fluid, while the 150 cm width gives useful cutting room for dresses, abayas, skirts and wider garment panels.
Should I consider the camouflage foil directional when cutting?
Review the full-width surface before cutting and decide how you want the broken metallic pattern to flow across adjoining pieces. Keeping the chosen orientation consistent can make large front and back panels look more intentional.
How will the foil look in photography and event lighting?
The matte metallic areas can appear stronger or softer depending on fold direction, flash, studio light and screen settings. Test the intended colourway under your actual lighting if photography or stage appearance is important.
What sewing approach should I test first?
Use a fine sharp needle suitable for lightweight woven fabric and test stitch length, tension and pressing on a swatch. Avoid unnecessary repeated puncturing or unpicking through prominent foil areas.
How should I press the fabric?
Avoid direct high heat on the foil face. Press from the reverse where possible, use a pressing cloth and test the lowest effective temperature on a swatch first.
Will a repeat order match exactly?
Small dye and foil variations can occur between production batches. For matching garments or a coordinated production run, order the expected quantity together or compare a current swatch before reordering.
When should I choose a different fabric instead?
Choose a true stretch knit for bodycon or active garments, a heavier jacquard for structured tailoring, or a breathable natural-fibre fabric for very hot everyday wear where metallic surface decoration is not the priority.

Before cutting or sewing this foil-printed silky fabric, test a swatch for washing, pressing, seam handling and foil durability. The matte foil surface can react to heat and friction, so confirm the safest settings before production.
- Test first Test a swatch before washing, pressing or cutting the full fabric.
- Needle Use a fine 70/10 or 80/12 needle and test stitch length and tension to avoid marking the foil surface.
- Wash Hand wash cold, max 30°C, or dry clean.
- Dry Do not tumble dry. Air dry in shade.
- Iron Iron only from the reverse side on low heat with a pressing cloth.
- Cutting Let the fabric relax flat before cutting, and handle gently to avoid scuffing the foil print.
General care guidance only. Results may vary by colour, foil finish, heat and handling.
Compare to Plain satin
Satin provides a smooth continuous sheen, while this fabric adds an irregular matte metallic camouflage-style surface.
This fabric is better when
- The broken foil pattern creates more visual variation across folds than a uniform satin face.
- It provides a ready-made statement surface without sewn-on embellishment.
Plain satin is better when
- Choose satin when you want a clean uninterrupted glossy face and classic fluid shine.
- Plain satin is preferable when no surface foil pattern is wanted.
Compare to Plain silky polyamide
Both can use a smooth lightweight synthetic base, but the plain fabric has no metallic surface decoration.
This fabric is better when
- The antique camouflage foil gives the garment an immediate statement pattern and light-reactive surface.
- It can reduce the need for additional decorative surface treatments when the foil itself is the design feature.
Plain silky polyamide is better when
- Choose plain silky polyamide for an unembellished surface, simpler care direction or when you plan to add your own print or trim.
Compare to Metallic jacquard
Metallic jacquard creates pattern through woven structure, while this fabric uses a surface foil print on a lightweight woven base.
This fabric is better when
- At 100 GSM this fabric is lighter and more fluid than many structured metallic jacquards.
- Its matte broken foil effect suits flowing statement garments and panels.
Metallic jacquard is better when
- Choose metallic jacquard when you want woven-in texture, more body or a structured tailored silhouette.
