Premium Lurex Italiano Metallic Fabric - 2
Create statement fashion pieces with our premium Lurex Italiano Metallic Fabric, designed for designers and manufacturers seeking elegant shine, lightweight comfort and fluid drape. The reflective metallic finish catches light beautifully, while the opaque woven construction gives reliable coverage for abayas, kaftans, evening gowns, dresses, skirts and coordinated occasionwear.
Made from 100% silky polyamide, this non-stretch fabric is approximately 100 GSM and 150 cm wide. It is sold by the meter, as a swatch and for wholesale orders, with a wholesale minimum of 50 meters.
Because the fabric is non-stretch, choose patterns with suitable ease, shaping or closures. Test a swatch before washing, steaming, pressing or cutting, and use low heat from the reverse side with a pressing cloth to help protect the metallic surface.

What buyers ask before ordering
What is Premium Lurex Italiano Fabric used for?
It is used for metallic abayas, kaftans, evening gowns, dresses, skirts, fashion sets and occasionwear that need visible shimmer with fluid drape.
What is the composition of this fabric?
The stored composition is 100% silky polyamide.
How wide and heavy is the fabric?
It is 150 cm wide and approximately 100 GSM, placing it in the lightweight category.
Is this Lurex Italiano fabric stretchy?
No. The current technical specification lists it as non-stretch, so patterns should include appropriate ease, shaping or closures.
Is the fabric transparent?
No. It is listed as opaque, although buyers should still test lighter colourways under the intended lighting before production.
What kind of drape does it have?
It has a fluid drape suited to flowing silhouettes such as abayas, kaftans, gowns and relaxed dresses.
Does the fabric have a printed metallic effect?
The metallic appearance comes from the surface finish and woven construction rather than a conventional printed motif.
Is it suitable for abayas and modest fashion?
Yes. Its opaque coverage, 150 cm width and fluid movement make it suitable for abayas, kaftans and other modest silhouettes.
Is it suitable for evening gowns?
Yes. The reflective shimmer and lightweight drape work well for evening dresses, gowns and occasionwear, especially when the design needs movement rather than rigid structure.
Which season is it best for?
It can be used through spring, summer and autumn, and as an all-season occasion fabric. Comfort depends on garment fullness, lining and climate.
How should I care for metallic Lurex Italiano fabric?
Hand wash cold at no more than 30°C or dry clean, air dry in shade and use low heat from the reverse with a pressing cloth.
What should I test before sewing?
Test washing, steaming, pressing, needle size, stitch tension, seam handling and the durability of the metallic finish on a swatch.
How does it compare with satin?
Satin gives a smoother traditional lustre, while Lurex Italiano gives a more visibly metallic and textured shimmer.
Can boutiques order this fabric for production?
Yes. It is sold by the meter, as a swatch and for wholesale orders. The stored wholesale MOQ is 50 meters.
Where is this fabric made?

Before cutting or sewing this metallic polyamide fabric, test a swatch for washing, steaming, pressing, seam handling and finish durability. The reflective surface can react to heat and friction, so confirm the safest settings before production.
- Test first Test a swatch before washing, steaming, pressing or cutting the full fabric.
- Needle Use a fine, sharp needle and test stitch length and tension to avoid snagging or marking the metallic surface.
- Wash Use cold gentle hand washing, max 30°C, or dry clean when the safest finish protection is required.
- Dry Do not tumble dry. Air dry gently in shade and avoid twisting or strong wringing.
- Iron Press from the reverse side on low heat with a pressing cloth; do not place a hot iron directly on the metallic face.
- Cutting Let the fabric relax flat before cutting and use sharp tools to keep edges clean and reduce surface abrasion.
General care guidance only. Results may vary by colour, metallic finish, water quality, heat, friction and garment construction.
Compare to Metallic lamé
Metallic lamé is considered when buyers want a highly reflective statement fabric with a stronger foil-like appearance.
This fabric is better when
- Lurex Italiano offers a softer hand feel and more fluid drape for abayas, kaftans and evening dresses.
- At 100 GSM, it gives visible metallic impact without the heavier or stiffer feel of some lamé fabrics.
- The opaque woven construction is easier to use as a main garment fabric when coverage is required.
Metallic lamé is better when
- Metallic lamé wins when the design needs maximum mirror-like reflection or a sharper futuristic surface.
- Choose lamé when dramatic stagewear shine is more important than softness and fluid movement.
Compare to Satin fabric
Satin is considered when buyers want a smooth glossy surface, fluid drape and a classic formalwear appearance.
This fabric is better when
- Lurex Italiano wins when the design needs visible metallic shimmer rather than satin's smooth lustre.
- Its reflective finish photographs with stronger texture and sparkle for occasionwear and modest fashion.
- The broad colour range supports coordinated metallic capsule collections for boutiques and designers.
Satin fabric is better when
- Satin wins when the garment needs a cleaner, smoother face with less metallic texture.
- Choose satin for classic bridal, lining or formal designs where soft gloss is preferred over shimmer.
Compare to Sequined fabric
Sequined fabric is considered when buyers want high sparkle, dimensional embellishment and a heavily decorated evening surface.
This fabric is better when
- Lurex Italiano is lighter, smoother and easier to drape than most sequined fabrics.
- The woven metallic finish avoids the bulk, loose embellishments and difficult seam handling associated with sequins.
- It is better suited to flowing abayas, kaftans and dresses where comfort and movement matter.
Sequined fabric is better when
- Sequined fabric wins when the design needs maximum dimensional sparkle and a heavily embellished couture look.
- Choose sequins for statement panels, stagewear or gowns where decorative impact outweighs weight and sewing ease.
