Silky Chiffon Stretch Fabric is a South Korea-made lightweight woven chiffon in 100% Silky Mechanical Polyamide. At 80 GSM and 143 cm wide, it combines sheer coverage, a fluid drape and gentle 2-way mechanical stretch with a smooth, silky hand. The fabric keeps the airy movement associated with chiffon while adding more give than a conventional non-stretch chiffon, making it useful for flowing garments and layered designs.

Its fine, translucent surface works especially well for evening gowns, cocktail dresses, blouses, skirts, scarves and hijab styles, sheer sleeves, capelets and bridal or occasionwear overlays. Used in a single layer it remains visibly sheer; gathering or layering builds depth, while a lining can be added when more coverage or structure is required.

This is a lightweight stretch chiffon rather than an opaque lining or high-compression stretch fabric. Because sheer woven fabrics can react to tension, heat and seam handling, order a swatch and test cutting, stitching, pressing, lining and the intended care method before production. Is this chiffon transparent?

Yes. It is listed as sheer, so a single layer allows light and underlying colours to show through. Add a lining, slip or additional layers when more coverage is required.

How much stretch does this fabric have?

It has 2-way mechanical stretch rather than 4-way stretch. The give is intended to add flexibility and ease, not the strong recovery of a jersey or performance spandex fabric.

Does the fabric contain elastane or spandex?

The stored composition is 100% Silky Mechanical Polyamide. Its stretch comes from the fabric construction rather than a listed elastane or spandex percentage.

How is this different from regular non-stretch chiffon?

Do I need a lining?

For full dresses, skirts or bodices, a lining is usually useful because the fabric is sheer. Some sleeves, overlays, scarves and decorative layers may intentionally be left unlined.

What needle should I test first?

Start with a fine sharp or Microtex needle suitable for lightweight wovens, such as approximately size 60/8 or 70/10, then adjust after testing on a scrap of the actual fabric.

What seam finish works well on chiffon?

Narrow French seams, fine overlocking or another lightweight enclosed seam can work well depending on the garment. Test bulk, seam visibility and stretch before choosing the production finish.

How should I hem this fabric?

A narrow rolled hem or baby hem is commonly used on chiffon because it keeps the edge light. Test the hem on a scrap first, especially where the edge will hang on the bias or be gathered.

Will the fabric shrink?

Do not assume a fixed shrinkage percentage. Test a swatch with the exact wash, dry and press method planned for the finished garment before cutting production yardage.

Will repeat orders match the same colour exactly?

Small shade differences can occur between dye lots and production batches. For matching garments or larger production runs, order the required quantity together or compare a current swatch before reordering.

Wash Hand wash cold for the safest care, or use a very gentle delicate cycle in cool water with mild detergent. Wash separately from rough or heavily embellished items.
Dry Do not tumble dry. Gently press out excess water without twisting, then line dry or lay flat in the shade.
Iron Use low heat from the reverse side with a pressing cloth and short contact time. Test steam first and avoid prolonged heat.
