Tone-on-Tone Viscose Rayon Jacquard Fabric is a Türkiye-made midweight woven jacquard combining 50% rayon and 50% viscose. Its tone-on-tone botanical motifs are formed through the weave rather than printed on the surface, creating subtle texture and a soft, light-responsive luster. At 168 GSM and 153 cm wide, the fabric is opaque and non-stretch with a soft hand and balanced drape, making it well suited to abayas, blouses, skirts, dresses, kaftans and coordinated separates.
The fabric reads largely as a solid shade from a distance, then reveals more of its jacquard pattern as light moves across folds. This gives garments visual depth without the stronger contrast of a printed motif. The current designs—Trailing Rose Vine and Abstract Botanical—use the same-color woven effect to add surface detail while keeping the overall look refined and monochromatic.

This is a woven fashion jacquard, not a stretch fabric. For close-fitting patterns, build the required ease into the garment rather than relying on fabric recovery. Because rayon/viscose constructions can respond differently to laundering and pressing depending on the finish, test the intended washing, pressing and sewing method on a swatch and pre-treat production yardage before cutting.

Is the tone-on-tone jacquard pattern printed or woven into the fabric?
The botanical motif is created through the woven jacquard structure rather than applied as a surface print. That gives the fabric texture and a pattern that becomes more visible as light moves across the weave.
How visible is the tone-on-tone pattern from a distance?
From farther away the fabric can read close to a solid colour. At closer range, or when the fabric folds and catches angled light, the woven motif becomes more noticeable, giving depth without strong colour contrast.
Is this fabric shiny like satin?
No. It does not have the continuous glossy face of satin. The rayon/viscose yarns and jacquard weave create a softer, light-responsive luster that changes across the pattern and folds.
Is 168 GSM too heavy for an abaya or kaftan?
At 168 GSM it is a midweight fabric with more body than a very lightweight viscose. It works well for abayas, kaftans and long garments when you want opaque coverage and a balanced drape rather than an ultra-airy silhouette.
Is it suitable for dresses and skirts?
Yes. The opaque midweight construction and balanced drape suit maxi dresses, gathered or A-line skirts, wrap-inspired shapes and coordinated separates. The final silhouette will have more body than a lightweight viscose challis.
Does this jacquard fabric stretch?
No. It is a non-stretch woven, so fitted garments need the required wearing ease, shaping or closures built into the pattern rather than relying on fabric stretch.
Is it opaque enough to use without lining?
The fabric is listed as opaque, so many garments may not require a lining for coverage. Lining can still be added for structure, comfort, seam finishing or personal preference; test the chosen colour under your intended lighting before production.
Does the reverse side look the same as the front?
Jacquard fabrics can show a different yarn arrangement on the reverse even when the colours are similar. The product gallery includes front-and-back views so you can compare both sides before deciding whether the reverse is suitable to show in your design.
Will I need extra fabric to match the jacquard motif across seams?
If exact motif placement or seam matching matters, plan for additional yardage. Review the full-pattern images and order a swatch first, then calculate extra allowance according to your garment pieces and the repeat you want to align.
Can I use this fabric for blouses and tunics?
Yes. It is suitable for relaxed blouses, tunics, overshirts and softly structured tops. At 168 GSM it has more substance than a very light blouse-weight viscose, so it is especially useful when you want the garment to hold a little shape.
How is this different from printed viscose fabric?
Printed viscose gets its motif from colour applied to the surface, while this fabric gets its tonal pattern from the weave itself. The result is subtler in colour contrast but richer in physical texture and light-dependent pattern definition.
Can rayon or viscose jacquard shrink after washing?
Rayon and viscose can respond to moisture, heat and laundering, and the exact amount varies by construction and finish. Test and pre-treat a swatch using your intended care method before cutting full yardage rather than assuming a fixed shrinkage percentage.
What sewing approach should I test first?
Treat it as a non-stretch woven. Start with a sharp woven-fabric needle, test stitch length, tension and pressing on a swatch, and handle cut edges carefully if your sample shows fraying. Confirm the method before cutting production yardage.
Will repeat orders match the same colour exactly?
Small differences can occur between dye lots and production batches. For matching abayas, uniforms, coordinated sets or larger production runs, order the expected quantity together or compare a current swatch before reordering.
Is this suitable for wholesale abaya or apparel production?
Yes. The 153 cm width, 168 GSM midweight construction, opaque coverage and non-stretch woven structure make it practical for abayas, dresses, skirts, blouses and coordinated apparel.
