Sewing and care
Check the actual usable width and pattern layout before ordering; size, garment length, sleeves, fullness and grain direction affect metre requirements. Keep directional surfaces consistently oriented. Test stitching and pressing on a scrap. Use low synthetic heat, a pressing cloth and reverse-side pressing where suitable.
Test a swatch for colourfastness, finish stability and shrinkage before laundering or cutting full quantities. Cool gentle washing, shaded air drying and low-temperature pressing are general starting points, not a verified mill-specific care label. Follow the finished garment label and account for trims and linings.
This 110 GSM satin is distinct from HIBA’s separate 220 GSM Silky Satin Fabric, whose recorded composition is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. Do not substitute their specifications.

What buyers ask before ordering
What are the fabric specifications?
This South Korean 100% polyester woven fabric is 110 GSM, 150 cm wide and non-stretch. Fabric mass per metre is approximately 165 g.
Does the fabric stretch?
No. Use patterns designed for non-stretch woven fabric, with suitable ease and closures.
How much fabric should I order?
Use the pattern layout for the actual usable 150 cm width. Size, length, fullness, sleeves and grain direction affect metre requirements; estimate from your cutting plan.
Is the fabric opaque?
The product specification is opaque. Check a swatch, especially pale colours, under the intended lighting and decide whether lining is needed.
How should I care for it?
Test a swatch for colourfastness, shrinkage and finish stability. Cool gentle washing and low-heat reverse pressing are general starting points, not a verified mill care label; follow the finished garment instructions.
Is this satin silk?
No. Satin describes the weave; this fabric is 100% polyester, not silk. Its glossy woven face should not be confused with a silk fibre claim.
How does this compare with the separate Silky Satin Fabric?
This product is 110 GSM and approximately 165 g per metre at 150 cm width. Silky Satin is separately recorded as 220 GSM and 95% polyester/5% spandex. Choose using the correct product specification rather than similar names.
Why should satin panels all face the same way?
A glossy satin face can reflect light differently when rotated. Test the direction on the actual cloth and keep major panels consistently oriented to avoid an unintended shade difference.
How can I keep glossy satin from shifting while cutting?
Support the whole fabric on the table instead of letting it hang and pull the grain. Test a single-layer layout, sharp cutting tools and pins within seam allowances on a scrap before cutting the garment.
What should I test if seams pucker on this glossy satin?
Use a fresh suitable needle and test thread tension, stitch length and feeding on a useful-sized scrap. Avoid pulling the cloth. Puckering has several causes, so change one setting at a time rather than assuming one universal fix.
Which needle should I start testing with?
Trial a sharp or Microtex/universal needle suitable for this 110 GSM polyester woven and the chosen thread. Check for skipped stitches, visible holes and puckering; the best size depends on the actual layers and machine.
How can I finish the cut edges neatly?
Test whether the actual cut edge frays, then choose an appropriate overlocked, enclosed or bound finish. Check seam bulk and appearance through the face before using the finish throughout the garment.
How do I avoid pressing marks on glossy satin?
Start on a scrap at low synthetic heat, from the reverse and through a pressing cloth. Check the surface after cooling. Do not assume a high-temperature steam setting is safe or that shine can be restored after damage.
Will interfacing change the drape?
It can. Trial a lightweight compatible interfacing or a sew-in alternative on the actual cloth and compare the result. Check adhesion, strike-through, stiffness and heat effects before committing to collars, cuffs or waistbands.
Does bias movement mean this satin is stretch fabric?
No. A woven fabric may give diagonally on the bias without containing elastane or providing elastic recovery. This product is specified non-stretch. For a bias-cut hem, test hanging and levelling on a sample before finishing.

At 110 GSM and 150 cm wide, this smooth non-stretch woven satin benefits from careful cutting and controlled seam handling. Its glossy face can reflect handling marks, so sample each technique first.
- Layout Check the fabric direction and lay garment panels consistently; the glossy face can look lighter or darker depending on lighting and panel orientation.
- Cutting Use sharp shears or a rotary cutter with a suitable mat. Keep slippery layers stable with pattern weights and avoid pulling the cloth off-grain.
- Needle Start with a fine Microtex/sharp needle (often 60/8–70/10), then test to avoid snags or puncture marks on the satin face.
- Stitching Test a fine polyester thread, seam tension and short-to-moderate stitch length on scraps. Avoid unnecessary unpicking because needle holes may remain visible.
- Fit Use woven patterns with appropriate ease, darts or closures. This fabric is not elastane stretch satin.
- Finishing and pressing Evaluate an enclosed or narrow hem and suitable seam finishing. Press reverse-side at low heat with a protective cloth and test for shine or water marking.
Sewing advice is a starting point; confirm results against the actual cloth, pattern and equipment.
